What this type is
Strong Self, Light Wealth is a configuration where the Day Master is strong but the Wealth Star is light: Peer Stars, Competitor Stars, or Resource Stars dominate the chart, while the Wealth Star is hidden in the branches or appears only thinly—sometimes not at all in the stems or branches. Classical texts read this as “money is not the theme of this chart”—the person's strength lies within, and money is a byproduct of action. People of this type often lack no drive; what they lack is the path to convert effort into output: when Output Stars are not established, strength charges directly at the Wealth Star, and the harder they push, the harder it is to hold onto gains.
How to see it in a chart
Look at three places. First, the Day Master: if the month branch supports the self, or if Resource and Peer Stars are many and rooted, the self is strong. Second, the Wealth Star: if it is not visible in the stems, or only hidden in one or two branches, or absent entirely, wealth is light or absent. Third, the Output Stars: if Eating God and Hurting Officer are weak and not established, there is no bridge between Peer Stars and the Wealth Star. All three conditions must hold for Strong Self, Light Wealth; if Output Stars are already strong, that is Output Produces Wealth, another type.
Women and men
Classical texts also treated Wealth as the wife and wealth for men, so a man with Strong Self, Light Wealth was often described as “thin in marital wealth, late to mature.” For women, the husband star lies in Authority Stars, and classical comments on women with this pattern were mostly “self-reliant, hardworking, not depending on others.” These remarks come from an era when women's wealth was seen as dependent. Today, the lesson for men and women is the same: strength is there, but the outlet is missing. When strength is channeled into something deliverable, money has a way to flow in.
How it mends
Luck Cycles can mend it. In a decade of Output Stars, strength finds an outlet, and what you make begins to generate money. In a Wealth decade, the Wealth Star gains root—a harvest season. In an Authority decade, strength is disciplined and becomes steadier. Discipline can mend it. The three most effective rules for this type: write down the one thing you most want to accomplish each week and do only that; set a delivery date rather than a money-making goal; when money comes, put it into a long-term account first, so your strength doesn't spend it away.
